Have you ever dreamed of competing against the top archers from historical tournaments without leaving your club? The new Competition Challenges module in Arena Battleground allows you to do exactly that: face real results from past competitions, measure your progress, and earn badges that prove your skill level.

What are Arena Challenges?

Challenges are virtual competitions based on real historical tournaments. Each challenge replicates the exact format of an official competition (same distance, number of arrows, and ends), allowing you to compare your performance against the original results while tracking your evolution arrow by arrow.

Benefits for Your Training

1. Structured and Realistic Practice

Each challenge faithfully replicates the format of official competitions:
* Same number of arrows (Distance 1 + Distance 2)
* Ends organized exactly like a real competition
* Official scoring system
* Pressure to complete within a deadline

This means you train in conditions as close as possible to a real tournament, without the need to travel or wait for the next event.

2. Comparison with Historical Results

How would you stack up against the winners of a national championship? Challenges show you in real-time where you would be positioned in the original competition standings. As you log your arrows, the system dynamically calculates your projected rank among historical results. You can choose to rank yourself within a specific original category or across all of them.

3. Dual Rankings: Historical and Arena

Each challenge offers two leaderboards:
* Historical Ranking: Your position among the original tournament results.
* Arena Ranking: Compete against other Arena users who are also taking on the challenge.

This allows you to see both your absolute level (compared to historical competitors) and your relative performance (against active archers in Arena).

4. Total Flexibility

Unlike live competitions:
* Pause and Resume: Save your progress and come back later.
* Multiple Attempts: Depending on the settings, you can repeat challenges to improve your score.
* At Your Own Pace: You have a specific window of time (days or weeks) to complete it.
* No Schedule Pressure: Train whenever it suits you best.

5. Badges and Achievement System

Each challenge can have a special badge associated with it, earned by meeting specific criteria:
* Reaching a minimum score.
* Achieving a certain number of 10s or 9s.
* Placing within the top X of the historical ranking.

Badges are permanently linked to your user account, building a history of your achievements in Arena.

6. Detailed Performance Tracking

The system automatically records:
* Total points per end.
* Number of 10s and 9s.
* Real-time progress.
* History of all your attempts.
* Comparisons between different attempts.

This data helps you identify patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement.

7. Constant Motivation

Seeing your name climb the historical ranking or improving upon your previous attempt provides a unique drive. You aren't training in a vacuum; every arrow counts toward something concrete and measurable.

How Does It Work?

  1. Select an active challenge from the Challenges section in the Arena.
  2. Log your arrows for Distance 1 using the scoring buttons. As you complete them, the system shows your position in the rankings.
  3. Complete Distance 2 to finish the full challenge. Compare your results with the historical standings and other Arena users.
  4. Repeat to improve your mark (if the challenge allows).

For All Types of Archers

Challenges are designed to adapt to different levels:
* Beginners can use challenges with accessible historical scores.
* Advanced competitors can take on high-level tournaments.
* Multiple modalities (Indoor, Outdoor) and divisions available.

The Arena Challenges module transforms your individual training into a structured and motivating competitive experience. It’s like having unlimited access to replay any historical competition, learning from the best results, and building a portfolio of achievements that demonstrate your evolution as an archer.
